The Medical Assistant will act as a point of contact for our patients under treatment and work collaboratively with our staff at Anchorage Radiation Oncology Center.

They will provide empathetic, compassionate care to those given a recent cancer diagnosis, as well as patients currently under treatment. The selected Medical Assistant will interact with our patients, their loved ones, other clients, physicians, vendors, and business partners, always with a positive approach.

Key Responsibilities

Work collaboratively with clinical staff, patient services, billing staff to provide excellent care to our patients and their families. Give an empathetic and compassionate ear to those that have recently been given a cancer diagnosis, help to navigate the financial and emotional anxiety of those patients. Interact not only with our patients, but also with our clients, physicians, vendors, and other business partners.

  • Assist providers with patient care within the care-team model
  • Room patients, take patient vitals and document PHI
  • Demonstrate a positive attitude
  • Assist in administrative areas including radiation scheduling and imaging
  • Maintain pro-active appointment flow, and daily organization
  • Ability to recognize and manage personal behaviors moods and impulses
  • Answer patient calls, and follow up with patients
  • Maintain ownership over patient care and follow through on given responsibilities
  • Perform environmental tasks and prepare for next day's clinic
  • Knowledge of insurance plans and patient payment options available
  • Culture champion to our organization
  • Be willing to fill in for employees when they are out of the office for extended periods

Ability to lift/carry up to 25 pounds. Ability to sit/stand for long periods of time. Good manual dexterity with the ability to perform repetitive hand/wrist motions. Ability to manage multiple tasks as assigned and handle stressful situations. Works in typical clinical environment. The noise level is usually moderate.

Requires mastery of complex language, comprehension, reasoning, and analytical skills typically found in mid to high-level work.

Education/Experience

  • High School Diploma
  • Healthcare Provider BLS Certification
  • Certified Medical Assistant
  • One or more years of experience (Preferred)
  • Excellent keyboarding and administrative skills
  • Strong spelling, proofreading, and grammar skills
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office products
