Your First Visit

First Visit

At the Anchorage Radiation Oncology Center, our goal is to provide our patients with the superior cancer treatment and care that they deserve, from the moment they walk in to our door for their first visit. Below we have provided more information on what you can expect from the first appointment with us at our local cancer center in Anchorage, AK.

INTRODUCTION & PLANNING

One of the key elements to creating an effective cancer treatment plan is basing it on the patient’s individual needs, which is why the first step in the process is having you fill out new patient forms to provide us with important information. You will need to fill out a “Patient History” form, as well as a “Notice Of Privacy Practices form. You can print and complete these forms beforehand and bring them to your appointment to save time.

Patient History Form

Next, you and any of your family members or caretakers will meet with your physician and our medical staff to begin discussing your treatment plan.

We’ll go over the process of cancer treatment and the potential outcomes that can be expected. We’ll review how your medical history, family history, and current state of health influences the planning of your treatment, and take time to answer any questions that you may have.

We encourage you to ask any questions that you have, to ensure that you have all of the information you need.

SETTING UP YOUR NEXT APPOINTMENT

Once we’ve finished with the first appointment, we will discuss additional scans and next steps as well as work with you to set up your next appointment so we can begin your treatment as soon as possible. Typically, treatment will be started within a few days of the first appointment.
